In response to the pathology community, the ABP has created a Physician Scientist Research Pathway with the goals of increasing the number of physician-scientists in pathology, attracting exceptional and committed young physician-scientists to pathology, preparing trainees for careers in academic medicine centered on basic science or clinical research, and providing flexibility in training pathways, while assuring the clinical competency of trainees that select this pathway.
